Removing unwanted services from services.msc console in Windows Vista


Learn how to remove unwanted services from services.msc console found in Windows Task Manager Services tab with Windows Vista or 7 Registry Editor (Regedit). Sometimes when you uninstall a program, the program is uninstalled, but the service for the program still remains in services.msc, but the program is not on your computer anymore, or your program can't uninstall because the service is still running in Windows' background tasks.

Be very careful when working in your registry. Only remove services that belong to uninstalled programs that are not installed on your computer anymore.

Step 1. Go to run and typr in regedit. Click OK

Step 2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and expand Services folder

Step 3. Type services.msc in run box, click ok.

Step 4. Find the unwanted service, and right click it, and select Properties.

Step 5. Look at the service name and remember it.

Step 6. Find the name of the service in Regedit Services Section.

Step 7. Right click the service and click delete.

Step 8. Press Yes Button for "Confirm Key Delete" Window

Step 9. Restart your computer, and the service should be gone from services.msc console when you check services.msc.
